Makenna's First Easter!

Happy Easter!!!

Makenna's first Easter basket. She knew exactly what needed to be done.

Her new purple ball got away! And yes we have a knee- crawler now!! :)

Oh and how she loved pulling all the grass out of her basket!

Giving Wayne pats.

Where did Wayne go?

Makenna's second basket from Gran.

Once again Makenna with her finger up her nose. hahaha!

Makenna's third basket from Grandma & Grandpa!

Cute new shiny shoes from Auntie Shandel & Uncle Eric.

While I was snapping photos this quick little one dumped my basket and found the "good stuff"!

My goodness that was yummy.

Uncle Eric always knows how to crack Makenna up. It being Easter he traded the bird dance for the bunny dance! Look at that smile, she just loves her Uncle!

Yet another great holiday with our little sweetheart!

Procession of the Species

What a glorious taste of summer!! Saturday temperatures nearly broke 70 degrees and the sun was shining brilliantly. Considering up until this point April had not even seen temperatures in the 60's. We had been waiting patiently and it paid off! Luckily this beautiful day coincided with the Procession of the Species- a parade put on annually celebrating all "species". The parade is always on a Saturday nearest Earth Day. Being my first Procession I really didn't know what to expect. It blew me away the creativity, beauty and talent showcased.

Before the parade started we took a walk down to Capital Lake to soak up some rays and snap some shots- proof of the weather! We were pinching ourselves.

Charming Makenna.

And so it begins...

Our friends and Makenna's swim instructor, Heidi and her sons Laine & Brody, the blue segment of the caterpillar.

Brody- Makenna's future husband :)

The Procession was filled with characters that's for sure. The mermaid in the photo above had us all in stitches as she was fondling her "shells" for the amusement of the older crowd! Makenna was in awe from the beginning. Captivated by the music, characters, colors, and flags. During the lulls in the parade, when a gap appeared she contently snuggled up with whomever was holding her, patiently waiting for the next group to parade by. What a great parade!! So looking forward to next years!

Gray Whale Watching and an Early Easter Bunny

Our first trip of the 2011 season started with Gray Whales out of Everett. This was Makenna's first experience with Grays and this lucky lady got to see #21 feeding on his side!! Thank goodness the wind direction was such that we escaped his stinky breath, but I'm sure she wouldn't have minded. Our girl sure loves the outdoors, a little rain and some wind didn't take the smile off her face.

Unedited photo of #21- stilling waiting for confirmation, but it's #21 I'm certain of it. Just love these gentle giants.

AND we got to see Captain Mike! What a wonderful surprise. We sure do miss him & his lovely wife Chandler- who we will hopefully get to see in June while up in Anacortes for our next trip.

Captain Carl was kind enough to allow Makenna to be Honorary Captain for a few moments. We have a similar photo of her taken back in September '10 when she was nearly 3 months old.

BROOKEBIRD!! Miss this lady so much. She did a wonderful job as always :) See you soon!

Hippity Hop...Hippity Hop...Easter's on its way!!

With Easter fast approaching I thought it best to get some bunny photos before the busy weekend approaches. Not only do we have the holiday and its festivities BUT my mom is moving down on Wednesday/Thursday!!! We have lots to celebrate that is for certain!!

Evan's Birthday Weekend & This 'n That

Well, we kicked off Evan's birthday weekend in a BIG way. We bought a new car. Yes, you read right a new car. A little over a week ago my beloved (if only by me) Escape started making a strange sound. We promptly took it in to be looked at and then milled for a few days over whether or not to fix the culprit and it's need to fix friends that cropped up in the last couple of months. After much debate we decided that the smartest move would be to part ways. We had been talking about getting a more fuel efficient car a few months ago and knew the next purchase would be a sedan- had no idea that the purchase would be so soon. So on Saturday we said our goodbye's to the Escape and purchased a new 2010 KIA Forte. Hello better gas mileage!! We have also become that family that has only silver cars- not on purpose I assure you! So here she is with her big, older sister in the background.

Sunday brought in Evan's 29th year- his first as Makenna's Daddy!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVAN my love!!
The Grandparents, Makenna and I all went in to properly outfit Evan with all his grilling needs (since grilling season is fast approaching- at least we hope it is), including a brand new BBQ.
Makenna is thrilled about Daddy's special day :)

Our lives have become much busier over the past couple of weeks with a mobile Makenna! YES we have a crawler- a the moment she is still tummy to ground.

Happy Birthday to a great husband, friend, partner, and father to our precious Makenna!!!

A few days ago I realized that I hadn't taken any photos of a BIG part of mine & Makenna's life: our weekdays with the Myers' kids! You can understand how it has not been a priority while juggling 3 children under the age of 3- all of which are in diapers! Yes, there are many moments in a day that I question my sanity. Although, we have found our rhythm and those moments seem much fewer than a few weeks ago.

The gang.

Makenna (9 months), Lucas (2 1/2 years) & Gracie (3 months)

Sweet Grace's brilliant smile!

They just love one another!

"I'm outta here Mama!"

On my day off last week one of the many "to do's" included a visit from the exterminator. No not Arnold, but the "Ant Guy". Ants are in the house. Not in huge numbers yet, but they have been found in Makenna's room so we have taken action to march them elsewhere! Apparently Makenna was marching herself right outside to enjoy the beautiful day!
