Mr. & Mrs. Oderman 12.27.09

It's official! We took the plunge and got hitched! Just like our engagement we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day! Blue skies, frosted grounds resembling a snow dusting, and the brilliant Olympic Mountains piercing in the backdrop. A small intimate ceremony with just the immediate family present although many family and friends presences were felt. We are so looking forward to our reception later next summer to celebrate with all of our loved ones not only our marriage, but the arrival of Lil' O or Bumpkin as the wee one is sometimes referred to. As promised before our departure for our honeymoon some photos to tide you all over until the professional ones are in our hands! Thank you so much for your thoughts and kind wishes on our special day.

Thanks Carp & Trin!

And Let There Be Light....Smathered All Over Houses

The eve before Christmas...

We started the evening at St. Mark's, the church Steve & DelRae got engaged & got married at, for the children's service. They reenacted the Christmas story, which entailed most of them to be some kind of animal. The cutest was the camel in my opinion!! Then it was off to gorge on tasty food from Anthony's. I don't recall ever eating so much nor feeling so full. Its sad when the ice cream you ordered before the meal arrives and all you can manage is one tiny bite before begging your fiance to finish it off. Sad sad day. Stuffed and unable to move we drove around town admiring some well decorated homes of Olympia.

Santa's Meet to Discuss Naughty & Nice List.

The Cove neighborhood received top ratings based on number of homes lite and the quality. This was one of my favorites.

Now that is commitment to a vision. Even a star at the very tip top.

Christmas Flamingos decked out with Santa hats that moved. Classic Christmas decor.

Brothers in the back.

Tired after a great day.

Second Trimester Has Arrived!

Yesterday marked the 13th week and the beginning of the second trimester! From what I've been told and all that I've read these are the 3 months to really grab hold of and enjoy. That these are the most enjoyable months during pregnancy- no more nausea, physically still comfortable, energy returns, and during these 3 months will begin to feel Bumpkins movements. For the past couple of weeks the nausea has subsided and I am starting to not only have more energy, but am beginning to understand how to deal with my pregnant self.

Doctor, Doctor give me the news...

In the wee hours of Halloween we found out that we were expecting the most unexpected- a little bumpkin! After years of coming to terms with the idea that I may not be able to conceive this news was the most unexpected surprise. It took us a while to get our minds & hearts around such big news since we were in the midst of planning our wedding. Such a big change in plans. It turns out that more than just an engagement happened atop Mount Rainier, making our little ones entrance into the bright big world near June 26th, 2010.

Bumpkin @ 6 weeks 4 days

Once we received the confirmation at a walk-in clinic that we were indeed pregnant we wanted to know how far along we were since my cycle has never been regular. We were fortunate to find a free clinic that gave us yet another pregnancy test before scheduling an internal ultrasound (thank goodness due to my condition I have lots of experience with this procedure). So on November 4th we discovered that we were 6 weeks 4 days into the pregnancy, rather than approximately 10 weeks which my cycle history suggested.

Bumpkin @ 9 weeks 4 days

What a difference 3 weeks makes! The growth of this wee one is amazing and so is its dance moves! In the above photo you can see the umbilical cord, its little arm/leg nubs, and a head that's comically larger than its round belly!

Yesterday, December 10th, we had our first appointment with our doctor that will see us through this pregnancy. After a physical exam we got to hear bumpkin's heart beat for the first time! A healthy washing machine sound filled the exam room. Everything looks "normal" which is the first time in my life that the sound of this word was music to my ears.

Finding the Perfect Tree

The Light Shines on "THE CHOSEN ONE"

Overseeing The Downing Of The Tree

Making the First Cut

Mission Accomplished and Neither Rolled Down the Cliff

I don't think facial expressions get any closer!

Wayne testing out the comfort level of the tree. It passed.

Saturday, December 5th we took off towards Mount Rainier to find ourselves the perfect little Charlie Brown tree for our first Christmas together. A quick stop in Elbe for the tree permit and a bathroom break then it was into for forest we went. Navigating through a maze of forest service roads until we happened upon a weathered dirt road that lead us deeper into the wood until we came upon two cars parted in the middle of the road. We began the hike to find the perfect tree as Wayne doggie ran enjoying the freedom only the forest can provide! He sniffed, he peed on many a tree and he feverishly dug and gnarled at frozen puddles! Eventually we found a hill along the side of the road that was basting in the sun highlighting a couple of prime candidates for the position of the PERFECT tree. Scampering up the hill we navigated fallen trees and shrubs until we found the one. All the while Wayne was running up and down the hill chasing after rocks that were dislodged under our feet sending them crashing down the hill. He sure does provide us with a bounty of entertainment! It was a beautiful brisk December day to pick out our tree.
