Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!!

Makenna with her gifts for her Dada!

She loves giving presents to people & reading the cards!

At Father's Day dinner Makenna had her first "big corn"- aka corn-on-the-cob

I realized days after Mother's Day had passed that I failed to get a photo of DelRae & her boys.  So during the Father's Day festivities I managed to get the photo!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

Golfing Girl

The sun & "summer-like" temperatures made their appearance during a Sunday in the beginning of June allowing our golfing girl to "whack" some golf balls at Grandma & Poppa's house during family dinner.

Relaxing in her Dora chair before her first round of golf.  :)

Look at that face!  Full of sass!

Before golfing could commence Makenna had to ensure the grass was at regulation length.

Trying new techniques.

Working on control and smooth strokes.

Not a bad stance!

Giggles in the grass!  We have so much fun...

Catching Up on May

Once again the month has gotten away from me.  I have spent most of my "free time" as of late preparing for Makenna's 2nd birthday party!  My goodness I will soon be a mother to a two year old.  WOW.

The first play of the season on her beloved water table.  It was finally warm enough to add water- although warm.  Of course she had to "test" it.  :)

Giving her car a bath.

Giving a pep talk to her waddle waddle (penguin) before...

...he dove right in!  SPLASH!

We returned back to Priest Point Park for a little hike.  Makenna is quite the hiker as navigated the entire way with only the occasional help from Momma & Dada.

We even found a tunnel tree!  Only Momma was excited to go through it.

On such hikes treasures are bountiful.  Horsetails were the treasure on this particular outing.

The perfect hiding place!  Taking a peek in to see if anyone was home.

After a nice hike it was time to PLAY at the playground.  Watch out! when Makenna is behind the wheel!

She loves swinging HIGH and of course underdoggie!

Makenna has her first Otter Pop of the summer.

I just love her silly blue tongue!  She thought it was hilarious and now insists on having blue "lollipops".  :)

Mother's Day Weekend

What better way to celebrate motherhood than at the zoo!  We packed up the car & Makenna up for a day at Woodland Park Zoo.  This was my first experience with this zoo and I was floored.  Set in a Seattle neighborhood it has more of a park feel than a zoo.   The exhibits were amazing and the flow of the grounds helped managed the crowds of people out celebrating moms and the gorgeous weather.  Not only a fun outing for our little family, but we invited along our good friends & Makenna's special buddies:  the Myers.

The only group photo captured of course came at the end of our adventure.  :)  All that fun left more than the kids a little sleepy.

The first new friends we met in the gates...PENGUINS!

At the flamingo exhibit the kids got a chance to incubate their own "eggs".  :)

Near the zoo's farm we found the petting zoo where we were able to visit with my favorite- the goats!

HIPPO!  This was the first time seeing a hippo.  I loved that both were enjoying a dip in the water.  I found it amazing how they were able to disappear into its depth, then suddenly reappear right after a stream of bubbles appear.

This was more Makenna's kind of Hippo!  It's placement was breathtaking.

We found the horses of the carousel.    I had a hard time prying her off it!  She sure does love to go round and round.

Sunday, Mother's Day, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner with family.  Makenna was able to squeeze in a round of golf in Poppa & Grandma's backyard.  She sure has a passion for the sport.
This was also her first time sporting pigtails!  Personally I think she looks precious- a little too big, but precious.

Amazingly enough our strongwilled girl allowed her Dada to show her the proper golf stance.

Pure joy & excitement from golfing.  Only our little girl.

Love for her Gran on Mother's Day.

Helping Gran & Grandma open her creations for them on this special Mother's Day.

My Mommasita.  Love her so much.

The 3 moms plus Miss Makenna.  It was a Happy Mother's Day indeed.

Momma/Daughter Weekend up North

The last weekend in April Makenna & I took off up north for a Momma/Daughter weekend with our dear island friends.  We started the fun filled weekend with some whale watching, where many of friendships have developed.

The girls, Makenna & Holden, settled right back into their friendship as if no time had passed between them- although in reality it had been many months.  Bonding over a picnic lunch is a great way to kick off any day.

It may appear to be a storage area, but for two creative little girls its the perfect cave for two bears!

They discovered the best spot to keep look-out for wildlife.  At this moment we are approaching Whidbey Island with gray whale #56 traveling along its shoreline.

My sweet little whale watcher.  She loved our 3 hour adventure aboard Momma's old "office".

Makenna was really impressed with Captain Michael!  So much so that she shared her snack with him- even fed him!  It was really cute.  At the end of the trip Captain Michael even surprised her with allowing her to drive the boat!

Whale watching with friends- not a better way to spend a Spring Saturday.

Reunited with Brookebird!

Oh my!  Three little ladies in one bathtub.  They had a wonderfully bubbly time getting clean!

On Sunday we found the tulips.  Our timing was perfect as the flowers were in their prime, as it was another late season due to the weather.  Makenna loved the purple ones claiming they smelt the best.

Me & my girl.  <3

Our sweet island friends- Holden, Julz, Iona & Michael

Thank you once again for having us up for a wonderful visit!

The VanQuickenborne girls sure know how to have FUN!  Makenna was in disbelief that they were actually playing in the mud, as she wasn't so sure about its texture & especially getting dirty.  It seems a lesson in mud pies will have to be in our future!  I love how exuberant both girls were in getting covered and especially when they were getting attention from other visitor to the tulip fields.  Love them!!  Thankfully Julz knows them well enough and was prepared with spare clothes & towels.  What would we do without moms?!
