9 Months Old...Seriously?!
Our beautiful Makenna is 9 months old today! This coming Friday the 1st of April is her 9 month check-up so I will post our growing girls stats. Since last month this child has changed so much. She is clapping, smacking her lips, saying "hoT"- or something like it, scooting on the floor (pulling herself with her arms & kicking her legs), bridging, standing while holding on, rolling around like crazy, playing peek-a-boo among so much more including eating everything in sight! As of late she has been taking 3 hour naps on top of her normal 11 hours sleep at night. Growth spurt? New teeth preparing to erupt? I think so and possibly both may be happening. Accompanying this new need for sleep is a clingy-ness to her momma- who could blame her?! She's always been a snuggle bug, but it seems that momma's arms and lap is all that she wants at times. She is now into 9 month clothes comfortably, but is sliding right into 12 month clothes- especially pants. And her hair! Wow! Well, it has always had a life of its own but now I have gotten comments that "we should cut her hair"! Seriously!!?!?! I AM NOT CUTTING HER HAIR anytime soon! So until that time I hope you enjoy her shaggy, naturally static looking, beautiful hair!
The Hansen's Come to Olympia to PLAY
On the rainy day visit we decided to take Miss Hayden to one of Makenna's favorite spots: The Hands on Children's Museum. First stop the lentil table! Lentils, lentils everywhere (including Makenna's cheeks)!
It was a wonderful visit with our friends. With each visit the girls engage with one another more and more. Sweet moments are created each time the six of us gather. Looking forward to our next get together a month from now up north.
Happy Birthday Gran!!
Sunday was Gran's birthday, so on Saturday I thought it would be a fun idea to go to the Painted Plate and create a "priceless" present for Gran. The thought was to make a mug with "I (heart) Gran" and inside the heart would be Makenna's hand prints. Well, her face says it all. It was as if she knew what was coming. Needless to say if was neither "fun" nor "priceless" since Makenna paid in tears. Don't worry we didn't make her suffer through getting hand or foot prints done. With two attempts we threw in the towel on that idea and settled for her initials within the heart. Gran played with the little Miss while I created the mug. Lesson learned. And definitely a mug that we will always remember!
Of course our efforts were rewarded with cones of Olympic Mountain Ice Cream! Makenna sneakily managed to nab the end of my cone. :)
It wasn't until the mug was complete that Makenna actually wanted something to do with it.
Happy Birthday Gran!!
On Sunday we had a birthday dinner at Steve & DelRae's (THANK YOU once again for hosting)!! Yummy food and of course a ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins made for a great end to a birthday weekend. Only a few short weeks until Gran will officially call Thurston County home! We can't wait!!!
A Photographic Catch Up!
At the beginning of the month (March) I started watching Lucas & Grace. While the first part of the month was part-time I find myself back in full force and EXHAUSTED at the end of each day. We live a full life, one which I am truly blessed and grateful for, so we stumble on times that the blog slacks. This is one of those said times. Now its onto catching up mode.
Police Officer Grandpa had a Open House for the families of City Employees at the new City Hall/Police Station. Makenna was quite enthralled with the new space as she enjoyed the tour in Grandpa's arms.
One night after coming home, after dinner the three of us just hung out in the kitchen. Evan & I caught up on our days and what the week had in store of each of us, while Makenna happily rolled about and scooted on the kitchen floor.
What we look forward to each week: weekend lounge time in bed with our sweet girl. :)

Happy Birthday, Eric!!
Happy Birthday Eric!!
Just a couple of months ago Eric polished off his bottle of Scotch he got from his parents a few years ago, so to his delight he received a new bottle for his birthday!
Enjoying Eric's birthday dinner at Anthony's. Makenna did exceptionally well as she sat quite content during dinner in her big girl highchair.
So you might be wondering why SPAM. Seems like a strange gift. Well, Eric actually likes SPAM and while in Hawaii a couple of months ago (aka The Land of SPAM) I found this cookbook. I was very excited and instantly thought of Eric.
Steve's friend, whom we call "Hutch", took a trip over to England a few months back and brought back a bonnet for Steve. Well, we all just had to try it on. Evan however thought a horse needed to accompany it, hence the riding stance.

Shandel's Birthday Dinner
Finally a photo showing off Makenna's first two pearly whites! It has been quite the challenge to capture especially since she has a fast tongue that tends to hide them when the camera is out!
Makenna had her first bath at Grandma & Grandpa's house tonight, since we ran short on time this afternoon (both Makenna and I had long naps). It was quite the spectacle with 6 adults huddled around the bathtub with one little baby (Makenna of course) splashing about. Makenna of course was eating up all the eyes on her. She did wonderfully in the BIG bathtub. Soon she will outgrow her whale tub and she will solely bath in the BIG tub. How is our little girl getting so big? She is already fitting into 12 month jeans and footed pj's!! Can we say growth spurt. :)
Happy Birthday to YOU...Happy Birthday to YOU...Happy Birthday dear Shandel...
Happy Birthday to YOU!!!
